Sleeping Dog

This morning during my quiet time a picture came to mind of a lazy dog lying on a rug in the middle of the floor. He looked immovable. Even if the worst bank robber walked through the living room, he would look up with disinterest, rollover and go back to sleep.

We as Christians can become like a dog with no bark or bite. We are too lazy to stand up and take care of our master's house. Our purpose in life fades as we let satan work in our homes, in our lives and in our families.

Jesus knew His purpose. He was not afraid to take a stand against the evil one.

When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. John 2:15 (NKJV)

And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ Luke 4:8  (NKJV)

What about us? The Bible says that we are the salt of the earth and that we are the light of the world. Were we the salt yesterday? Were we the light?

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:13-16 (NKJV)

When the enemy comes with filth, sin and sickness we need to be more like a watch dog and less like a sleeping hound. We need to come against the enemy forcefully with our mouths using the Word of God. God's word is a sword, not a doggie treat.

Let me give an example. When the enemy introduces bad thoughts we have authority in Christ to stop him at the door of our mind and apply the blood of Jesus to the entry of our mind. We have this right against sickness and sin too.

Recently friends asked me how often I apply the blood of Jesus. I answered, "Well as often as the enemy attacks me." I start my morning with a yell of defiance against the kingdom of hell. I cover my house, my mind, my eyes, and my ears with the blood of Jesus. I am not afraid to use the Word of God and stand under the covering of the Blood of Christ.

When satan gets in the way, it's ok to growl a little. God wants His children to live life on purpose in the victory of Christ Jesus.
