Protection in the Lord

One Sunday morning we were on our way to church. As we drove through a residential area we saw a herd of antelope grazing on the peoples lawns. Cars came and went but the antelope kept eating. Not once did they lift their heads from breakfast. There is little need for a mower in this neighborhood.

The Spirit of the Lord spoke into my spirit saying, "That's exactly how it is when my people are in My presence. Those deer are protected. But if they go into the hills people can legally purchase a license to kill them. If my people go their own way, the enemy will attack them. This is why you need to stay in the Spirit."

You see we have a choice. We can stay in the protection of the Lord or we can stray outside His will. God always loves us. But there are consequences if we walk away from His pasture.

Satan has no authority over us. But our decisions give him authority in our lives.

The thief [satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  John 10:10 (NKJV)

What choice will you make this year?

The Lord reminded me of these verses from the Psalms.

Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.   Psalm 91:9-13 (NKJV)
