Open Door Policy

After our ministry trip in the Fall Joe and I look forward to watching out granddaughter's (Melissa and Jenny) play basketball. We've watched several games this season. Melissa's team won all but one of these games. Melissa had to sit out the game they lost to care for a sprained ankle.

Now I'm not saying that Melissa is the only reason they won those games. (If you sit down to a cup of coffee with me the story may come out this way though. I am a grandma after all.) The truth is, Melisa has a great group of hard working teammates and their coach is top notch.

Ah but there is something that makes me even prouder of my granddaughter. Melissa encourages her team to pray before they play each game. You know, Jesus is interested in everything we do. He wants to be involved in every part of our lives.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)

This verse is for everyday life.  Jesus wants to be invited. He is not only our healer, our savior, and our deliverer. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He wants to go shopping with us. Jesus wants to go with us on vacation and even when we clean the restroom.

It's sad that Jesus has to keep saying this to Christians today. "Behold I stand at the door and knock." Jesus is looking for a relationship with no doors that stand between us and Him. I like to call this my "Open Door Policy". Jesus is always welcome in every part of my heart.

Friends, it's time to open the door of our hearts and let Jesus in. Let me go further and say, it's time to take that door off its hinges, toss it in the garden and sit down to a heart to heart conversation with our sweet Savior Christ Jesus. Jesus wants to come in and be your best friend. The rest is up to you.
