Healing, A Promise Completed

I want to show you the difference between healing before and healing after Jesus went to the cross. Matthew saw healing through Isaiah's prophesy and not through the cross. In other words, Matthew saw healing based on a promise in the future. Matthew witnessed the power of Jesus. Jesus had power to heal the lame, the blind, the sick, and destroy the works of the devil. The prince of this world had nothing on Jesus.

Now when Jesus had come into Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother lying sick with a fever.  So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them. When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:  "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses." Matthew 8:14-17

Now consider how Peter describes healing after the cross.  Peter saw healing based on a Promise Delivered and Completed.

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24

Today we can believe in faith to be healed based on something that Jesus has already completed. Jesus explained how to practice this faith.

So Jesus answered and said to them, Have faith in God.  For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.  Mark 11: 22- 25

Because Jesus shed his blood for us, died for us and his Farther raised him from the grave, we now have the power to heal the lame, the blind, the sick, and destroy the works of the devil. Because of the blood of Jesus the prince of this world had nothing on those who believe in him.
