When my granddaughter Heidi visits she likes to sit and watch old westerns with her Grandpa Joe. The last time we visited I watched the two of them sitting on the couch together. When the commercials came on Heidi reached over to Joe and covered his eyes. She said, "Grandpa, close your eyes. They are just trying to rip you off. They want to sell you something. Don't watch. It's just a gimmick grandpa."
Isn't this true about the world we live in? There are many voices out there that will lead us down the wrong path. There are many spiritual gimmicks out there. Some teach that the whole world is saved and that accepting the atonement of Jesus is not necessary.
In some cases the message is not incorrect but missing. For example, have you considered when you last heard teaching about the Blood of Jesus in church?
The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Lamb of God, He is the sacrifice for our sin, He is the victorious resurrection and He is the only way to the Father.
And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!” John 1:36 (NKJV)
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26 (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 (NKJV)
It's important to check everything we hear with the Word of God. If we spend time in the Word of God every day, we are better able to recognize false messages in this world and reject them.
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. Matthew 7:15 (NKJV)
