Joe and Rachel are former Hutterites who left the Hutterite colony in 1975 with their family after they gave their life to Jesus Christ.
Joe and Rachel are now doing Evangelistic work in the United States and Canada.
They reside in Huntley Montana.
If I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me.
– Jesus Christ
Friends, Joe and I were surprised to find out that the Hutterite Colony was not our salvation. We both came out of a religious system called a Hutterite colony. We were required to attend religious services every evening. Every Sunday we were required to attend Sunday school and Church. We thought living and working together in the colony was our salvation. We believed the colony was our ark, sort of like Noah's ark. We believed that we risked our salvation if we left the colony.
In the colony we were taught about the virgin birth of Christ and taught about the life of Jesus and how he died on the cross. We were taught that God created the world and that we should live a good life that aligns with the principles in the Bible. We understood that it was wrong to steal or murder. But even this knowledge was not enough to justify us before God.
The surprise was really sparked by a Bible verse that someone shared with Joe and me. It turns out that God considers our works as filthy rags. All our years of work in the colony boiled down to just plain self righteousness.
But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6 (NKJV)
Then we found out about God's love and why he sent his only son Jesus to earth.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (NKJV)
We learned that Hell is a real place. The Bible is clear that God did not intend it for us. He made it for Satan and his followers. But we will go to Hell if we do not accept this sacrifice Jesus made for us. Our redemption comes through the blood of Christ Jesus and not from membership in a church or because we belong to a colony.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
The colony was not our ark, Jesus is our ark. Our good works and our knowledge only covered us with filthy rags. You see it's not good enough to just believe in God and to know about God. It's not good enough to live a life that is good. But the blood that Jesus shed on the cross covers all of our sin and gives us eternal life. We must accept the free gift that God offers before we will receive our redemption from sin.
Our redemption comes when we accept the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross, when we confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from the grave. God's free gift will redeem us from our sins.
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
What about you? Do you feel the need to make your heart right before God? Do you want to go to heaven when you die? Would you like to ask Jesus into your heart?
It's simple to accept the free Gift Jesus offers us. Here is a salvation pray you can pray. You will never be sorry for stepping out in faith and accepting Gods gift.
Jesus, I believe in my heart that you are the son of God. I believe you died for my sins on the cross. The blood of Jesus washed my sins away. I believe that God raised you from the dead. Come into my heart, forgive my sins. Be my Savior and Lord. I consciously receive you into my heart. Thank you Jesus for saving me!
